Butterflies in the Garden

From spring through early fall, the Garden will be teeming with beautiful butterflies. Find out where to look, how to identify and what makes these insects so special from the Garden’s very own Butterfly Coordinator, Joey Bynum. Don’t forget, the Garden’s Butterfly Bungalow will open on Saturday, May 23!

Join Jamie Kirkell, as he shares his journey, practice and methods as a master silk artist. Kirkell’s silks have been shown in exhibitions throughout the United States in botanical gardens, museums and galleries. A short demonstration allowing for audience participation will also take place. Kirkell’s Exhibition of Silk Tapestries and Scarves opens in the Gallery Halls of the Garden on Friday, May 1 and closes on Sunday, May 31.

Join artist Kirk Fanelly, as he discusses the vision, imagery and process of his Exhibition of Botanical Inlaid Cut Paper showcased in the Garden’s Gallery Halls from Friday, June 12 until Sunday, August 2. Want to create more? Join Kirk Fanelly Saturday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. in a workshop to learn how to create your very own inlaid cut paper painting to take home.
A Conversation with George Zhao
