Bring your lunch to the Garden’s Visitor Pavilion and enjoy a presentation on the first Tuesday of each month (except July). Presentations are free for members or with general admission.
Join Charlie Williams, retired Charlotte Mecklenburg librarian, botanist and scholar as he presents the life and times of French botanist Andre Michaux who explored eastern North America in the late 1700’s. Learn about Michaux’s relationship to Gaston County and his discovery of Magnolia macrophylla thanks to Charlie’s efforts for recovering Michaux’s historical field investigations. Todd Beasley, Director of Horticulture, will also discus the Garden’s upcoming Plant Sale making direct connections to Michaux, Piedmont Prairies and other naturalists’ native plant discoveries.
