GARDEN OFFERS DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden continues its popular digital photography classes this August with courses designed for those who have little or no experience in photography as well as those who would like to further improve their photography skills.

Lectures and demonstrations take place in the classroom, followed by an opportunity to practice newly learned skills in the Garden. All classes cost $30 for members and $36 for non-members unless specified otherwise.

Unless specified otherwise, classes are taught by Dave Kelly, Wildlife Photographer & Adobe Certified Instructor and owner of DEK Photography, and are geared for advanced beginners to camera buffs with intermediate skills who are already familiar with the basic workings of digital SLR cameras.

Photography for Beginners Instructor Haley Glatzer, will guide participants through basic camera functions for digital SLR cameras as well as point and shoot cameras. Saturday, Aug. 7, 9:30 a.m. to noon. This course is for those who have little or no experience and is an excellent introduction to Basic Digital SLR Photography.
Photographing Hummingbirds Learn tips and tricks on how to capture dramatic images of hummingbirds. Feeders in the Garden provide ample opportunities to photograph these winged wonders. Saturday, Aug. 21, 9:30 a.m. to noon.
Basic Digital SLR Photography Participants learn how to set up their digital SLR camera, how to utilize shooting modes and how to get perfect pictures in less than perfect lighting. Saturday, Aug. 21, 1:30 to 4 p.m. Intended for photographers with some experience and an existing knowledge of basic camera functions is recommended.
Advanced Photographic Metering: How to Get the Perfect Exposure for Your Images Learn how to achieve perfect images in less than perfect lighting. This class includes understanding aperture, shutter speed, ISO and reflective and incident metering methods. Saturday, Aug. 28, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Intended for photographers with some experience and an existing knowledge of basic camera functions is recommended.
Photographic Depth of Field This class provides photographers with digital SLR cameras, an understanding of depth of field and how it can improve images. Saturday, Aug. 28, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
