GARDEN OFFERS VARIETY IN CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES
This August, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden will feature continuing education classes on decorative arts in the Garden as well as a class focused on edible gardening at home.
Upcoming classes in August include:
Deck the Walls conducted by Garden staff. Saturday, Aug. 14, 10:30 a.m. to noon or Thursday, Aug. 19, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Decorate the wall of your home with a seasonal container garden and fill it with plants and decorate with other natural materials to add your own flair. Participants will create their own wall-mounted container garden for their home. Cost is $15 for members and $18 for non-members, plus a $30 materials fee.
Piece by Piece: Mosaic Planter instructed by Garden staff member, Pat Groome. Saturday, Aug. 21, 1 to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 28, 1 to 3 p.m. This class returns by popular demand. Designed especially for beginners this class will teach participants how to design and create their own mosaic flower pot using broken dishes and tiles. Participants will leave with a planter of mosaic by their own design. Cost is $30 for members and $36 for non-members, plus a $30 materials fee. Please note this is a two-session class.
Edible Landscaping with by David Goforth, Cabarrus County Horticulture Agent, NC Cooperative Extension. Saturday, Aug. 28, 10:30 a.m. noon. Learn how to turn your yard into a landscape full of healthy fruits, vegetables and herbs. Top edible varieties and tips on how to produce abundant crops are covered. Participants will leave with a vegetable plant for their garden. Cost is $15 for members and $18 for non-members.
