Garden’s Race First of New Year in Gaston County’s 2017 Road Race Series
BELMONT, N.C. – Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden will host its annual Hearts-a-Bustin’ 5K trail run on Saturday, Feb. 11 beginning at 9 a.m. The Garden’s 5k race is the first of the new year in Gaston County’s 2017 Road Race Series. It will start at the Garden’s Persimmon Trail and continue through the connecting Seven Oak’s Preserve Trail maintained by the Carolina Thread Trail. Crowders Creek Coffee Co. will be onsite serving beverages and food from 8 a.m. to noon. In addition, Split Second Sound will entertain with music and vendor booths will provide information and interactive activities.
Pre-registration continues through February 9 otherwise racers may register the day of the race if spaces remain. The race is limited to the first 250 participants. Registration is $30 for individuals and $50 per pair (includes friends, spouses, significant others, best friends, co-workers, siblings, etc.) in advance and will increase to $40 for individuals and $60 per pair on race day. Registration fee includes a t-shirt along with admission to the Garden for the participant and a guest on the day of the race. Medals will be distributed to race winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in each age group as well as to the overall male and female winners. The overall winners for the run will also receive an orchid from the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden collection and a household membership to the Garden.
